OLPS 2024 Mass Intention Guidelines
Mass Intentions
One of the greatest acts of charity is to pray for the living and the dead, and the greatest and most powerful prayer we have is the Mass, since the fruits of the Mass are the very fruits of Jesus’ redemption. For that reason, all are encouraged to have Mass offered for loved ones who have died, or even for the living who may have needs. This is an ancient Christian practice, and all are encouraged to take it up.
 
Guidelines for Mass Intentions 
 
A mass intention may be set for:

1. A deceased loved one.
2. A living person who is sick or suffering.
3. A living person who is celebrating a birthday, anniversary or other special moment in their life.
4. In thanksgiving to God (including the Lord Jesus or the Holy Spirit.)
5. In thanksgiving for a prayer from a Blessed or a Saint.
6. For a prayer intention (so long as it does not contradict the Church teaching.)

1. An unknown or “private” intention.
2. A prayer intention that contradicts Catholic Moral Doctrine.

1. We can take unlimited mass intentions per household please limit it to 10 per visit.

2. A stipend of $5.00 is to accompany each mass request.

3. A stipend of $15.00 for the sanctuary candles, and $10.00 for the blessed mother and sacred heart. These candles are lit on Fridays and burn out on Thursdays.

4. One mass every weekend is scheduled for the intentions of all parishioners. 

5. Please do not call in your intention due the inability to process the request over the phone.

6. Please note we can only take ONE mass intention during weekday masses.
